Why Pir Ki Gali / Girjan Valley Trek is a Must-Do Trek ?

  • The Pir Panjal Mountain Range is a beautiful mountain located in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pir Panjal Pass or ‘Pir Ki Gali’ is a mountain pass located in the Pir Panjal Range and is an excellent trekking destination.
  • The pass connects the Kashmir Valley via Mughal Road to the Poonch districts. The pass is located at 11,450 ft and lies on the southwestern side of the Kashmir Valley.
  • In ancient times, the Pir Panjal Pass was a major connectivity route. It was one of the main passes of the Kashmir Valley that connected Hirapur with the Rajouri region. In modern times, this road is known as the Mughal Road.
  • There’s also a shrine of Sheikh Ahmed Karim at the top of the pass giving it auspicious relevance. Inside the shrine are imprints of his hand on a big stone. Pir Ki Gali offers vistas quite similar to that of Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. If you are visiting Kashmir, this hidden gem is a must-visit!
